COVID Resource Deployment

Post by TLupkes »

Due to the social distancing recommendations and science supporting close-contact spread of COVID-19, I recently began exploring deployment alterations that would limit double-posting stations and other situations. This exploration is done under the direction of Wade Johnson (Deputy Chief of Communications) and Mike LeVake (Interim-Deputy Chief of Operations/Deputy Chief of Special Operations).

What do we know?
  • Staff volumes are adequate
  • Call volumes are reduced
  • More trucks than places to put them
Where are we going?
  • Eliminate double-posting stations
  • Utilize additional new stations to fill the gaps
  • Continue to have constructive conversation about solutions
Station Changes for Deployment - EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
  • Minneapolis Fire Station 4 - CLOSED - Do not utilize
  • "Flying Cloud" - Eden Prairie Fire Station 2 - Do not utilize
  • Double-posting is forgiven - Using your best judgement, you may forego using double postings as the grid suggests
Station Changes for Deployment - NOT YET IMPLEMENTED
  • Minneapolis Fire Stations 6, 19, 21 - 24/7
  • Eden Prairie Fire Station 3 (Co Rd 4/Valley View) & "Area 51" (Flying Cloud/Technology Dr) - 24/7
  • Minnetonka Fire Dept Station 2 (1815 Hopkins Crossroad) - 24/7
  • Richfield Fire Station 2 (6401 Penn Ave) - 24/7 Pitstop for 62/Penn assignments
  • Richfield Ice Arena (636 66th St E) - 24/7
